Job DescriptionWe are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Roman Catholic primary school in Litherland, Merseyside.
The school is a well-established two-form entry primary school, catering for children from nursery through to the end of Key Stage 2. It serves a diverse local community and provides a supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and personally.
The school was most recently inspected by Ofsted in March 2023 and was judged to be Good.
The school has a diverse pupil population, with a significant proportion of pupils eligible for Free School Meals. It also supports pupils with a range of additional needs and backgrounds, providing an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is confident working with children with differing needs.
The successful candidate will provide general classroom support across Key Stage 1, work with individuals and small groups, deliver targeted interventions and support the school’s Forest School provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with younger children and is keen to make a positive difference to their learning, confidence and development.
Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Supporting pupils to complete set tasks and activities within the classroom.
  • Working with individuals and small groups to provide additional support.

  • Working closely with the class teacher to implement appropriate learning strategies.
  • Providing encouragement and positive reinforcement to promote good behaviour and attitudes towards learning.
  • Supporting pupils during different aspects of the school day, including classroom activities and outdoor learning.
  • Assisting with Forest School activities, helping pupils engage safely and positively with outdoor learning.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other Teaching Assistants to provide a consistent and supportive learning environment.
  • Promoting the welfare, safeguarding and inclusion of all pupils.

Who can apply? We are keen to hear from candidates who have experience working with children in a school, nursery, youth, sports, childcare or similar setting.
The role would suit someone who is:

  • Able to support children with different learning needs.
  • Patient, enthusiastic and encouraging.
  • Interested in supporting outdoor and practical learning.
  • Comfortable working as part of a wider school team.
  • Committed to promoting positive behaviour and pupil independence.

Experience of Forest School, outdoor learning, interventions, SEND or working within Key Stage 1 would be advantageous, although relevant experience in other settings will also be considered.
