1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEMH, Attachment & Trauma Support

Are you a nurturing, compassionate and supportive Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference to a young person’s life?

We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide individual support to primary and secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, including attachment and trauma-related needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands the importance of trauma-informed practice and can provide a calm, nurturing and consistent approach to help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

The role is for the full academic year, providing the opportunity to build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil and make a lasting impact on their educational and emotional development.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is nurturing, patient, compassionate and emotionally supportive.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEMH needs.
  • Understands or is keen to develop knowledge of attachment and trauma-informed practice.
  • Can build trusting and positive 1:1 relationships.
  • Provides consistent, calm and predictable support.
  • Is resilient and able to remain patient and positive during challenging moments.
  • Supports pupils with their learning, emotional wellbeing and confidence.
  • Encourages independence and celebrates individual progress.
  • Works collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team.
