Job title: Full-Time EYFS Teaching Assistant – 1:1 SupportThe Education Specialists are seeking a caring and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Netherton.
This is a full-time role supporting a bright Reception pupil with additional needs consistent with ASD. The pupil would benefit from individual support with emotional regulation, attention and concentration, social interaction and understanding personal boundaries. They have a keen interest in space and geography, which can be used to encourage engagement and learning.

EYFS Teaching Assistant role requirements

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS or primary education
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly autism or social and emotional needs, is desirable
  • A patient, nurturing and proactive approach
  • Understanding of emotional regulation, social communication and positive behaviour strategies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through The Education Specialists

The successful EYFS Teaching Assistant will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Help develop attention, concentration and engagement in learning
  • Support emotional regulation and transitions between activities
  • Encourage positive social interactions and an understanding of boundaries
  • Use the pupil’s interests to promote learning, confidence and independence
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support the pupil’s development
