Ofqual lowers grades

According to Ofqual, this year would have led to an unprecedented rise in GCSE and A levels results: 12 per cent at A level, across all grades, and 9 per cent at GCSE – with bigger increases in core subjects.

As such a leap has never happened before, the qualifications watchdog said that it needed to lower grades due to the predictions made by teachers who have been too optimistic following the cancellation of 2020 exams due to Covid-19.
